Chapter Photos 2013

Griffin Elementary School Mural

Five of our CRDA members volunteered to paint a mural at a school that was in desperate need for community help and support. We took lots of pictures from start to finish. The lady in the wheelchair was the Principal. She and all the other teachers were off the wall with delight. Press Release below.

The local Citrus Ridge Decorative Artists, a chapter affiliated with the National Society of Decorative Painters has volunteered to paint a mural for the Griffin Elementary School, Lakeland.

Pepperidge Farm has formed a partnership with Griffin Elementary to help meet the identified needs at the school. In May, Pepperidge Farm had a major book drive and their employees donated over 500 books for the students; this contribution vastly helped the schools effort to increase the children's literacy skills. Presently, Pepperidge Farm employees are collecting school supplies to assist those in need in receiving items necessary at the start of the upcoming school year.

With this in mind, the Pepperidge Farm Occupational Health Nurse, Kathryn Thielen, a member of CRDA, presented to her chapter a way that they could become involved in another community annual project; to paint a mural and dress up the corridor to the bus entrance. This is an ambitious project but one that will not only brighten a school corridor but bring smiles to the children as they enter the school for the first day.

The local CRDA chapter teamed up with Pepperidge Farm to make it a combined effort for the Griffin Elementary school.

The National Society of decorative Painters is an organization of approximately 14,000 members stretching across the US and 50 countries throughout the world. More than two hundred affiliated chapters actively promote decorative painting in its many forms by incorporating it into community service projects, organizing painting-related activities, and raising general awareness of the art form.
